The National Transplant Procurement Management Unit (NTPMU)
is responsible for managing the nation’s organs and tissues that had been
donated by cadaveric donors. Based at the National Transplant Resource Centre,
this unit does not interact with patients. NTPMU is assisted by the various
Tissue and Organ Procurement Teams (TOP Teams) who will be responsible for any
donors. NTPMU is also in charge of the logistical aspects of the
transplantation procurement. This includes transporting the organ(s) and
tissue(s) from the donor to the recipient. NTPMU usually coordinates with the
Malaysia Airline System (MAS), Malaysian Royal Air Force (TUDM), Royal Police
(PDRM), airports security, Tissue and Organ Procurement teams, Organ
Transplantation Team and other related agencies if a transfer is required. In
addition, NTPMU also manages the database regarding donor registration and
organ donation, as well as transplantation activities in Malaysia.
The NTPM application is a web application used for
management of donor and recipient information by Tissue and Organ Procurement
Team (TOP team), Regional Transplant Procurement Unit (RTPU) and National
Transplant Procurement management Unit (NTPMU).
